On July 28, 2006, Siskinds filed a class proceeding against Janssen-Ortho Inc. with respect to the contraceptive patch Evra. Use of Evra has been associated with an increased risk of developing blood clots, pulmonary emboli, strokes, heart attacks and/or deep vein thrombosis.
The Defendant has now settled certain individual claims, including that of the proposed representative plaintiff. As a result, the action will no longer be pursued on a class-wide basis and on March 23, 2009 the class proceeding was discontinued. It may still be possible at this time to receive compensation for an injury resulting from use of Evra.
