MSG/Nucleotides

A class action was commenced in which it was alleged that certain manufacturers of MSG and/or nucleotides unlawfully conspired to fix prices and allocate markets for nucleotides. Damages were sought on behalf of all people who purchased MSG and/or nucleotides or products containing such between 1990 and 1999. MSG refers to monosodium glutamate. Nucleotides refers to all nucleotide-based flavour enhancers, including, without limitation, disodium, inosinate (sometimes called "DSI" or "IMP"), disodium guanylate (sometimes called "DSG" or "GMP") and combinations thereof (sometimes called "I+G") are naturally occurring flavour enhancers found in many plants and animal cells. The most common of these flavour enhancers is monosodium glutamate ("MSG") which has been manufactured since 1909.

Settlements have been reached with the defendants that resolves the litigation. The deadline to file a claim under the settlements was October 30, 2004. This settlement has concluded and all claims have been paid.
